The mornings sure are getting a little on the fresh side, and it’s just so tempting to remain rugged up in bed where it’s nice and warm.
What can you do to help remain active over the cold and wet Winter months?
- Shake up your routine – switch your regular routine from outside to inside. Make use of the furniture in your home and office to assist in your exercise regime. Couches can assist in exercises such as incline and decline push-ups, tricep dips and single leg squats for example. If you have a staircase in your home or office, you’re about to get your cardio on. Chairs can assist with calf raises and lunges. Even a blank wall can be used for timed wall sits.
- Find an activity you enjoy doing. Explore new outdoor activities that only occur in winter, such as skiing and snowboarding.
- Keep warm! If you still wish to get outside for some fresh air then just make sure your body is protected against the harsh cold air. Layer up so that you can remove items as your workout increases and you start to warm up.
- Sign up for an indoor sporting activity. What a great way to meet new friends in your local area, and remain active over the colder months in the process. Contact your local gym or recreation centre for details on their winter programs.
There shouldn’t be any excuse now to get off the couch, get out of bed and get to it!
